Please take a few minutes to read this. YOUR future actions may or may not lead to the end of hunting, trapping and fishing.
Michigan has a long great hunting and fishing heritage. Everybody in the country knows that. But what a lot of people don't know is that Michigan sportsmen and women are a very divided group of people. Michigan has their longbow, compound bow, crossbow, muzzleloader, upland game hunters etc. All theses groups sometimes do not see eye to eye on a lot of subjects. Take lasty years failure of proposal 3 for example. The Humane Society of the United States donated more than 80% of the funding to defeat prop. 3. When they did that they turned the proposal into a battle with animal activists. They had a bottomless pocket of cash to provide a lot of advertising supporting their view. Meanwhile the Citizens for Wildlife conservation, who were trying to get prop. 3 passed, couldn't even raise enough cash to put up billboards. I know this because I put up the only pro prop. 3 billboard in Michigan. A very nice guy donated the space on his privately owned board. My point here is that Michigan hunters voted not to have a Dove hunt even though they were supporting the anti's cause. If the Citizens for Wildlife conservation had received more donations maybe, just maybe they could have educated the hunters and general public about what the antis really stand for. The Michigan sportsmen need to stand shoulder to shoulder to fight this threat to our heritage. While I was promoting the passage of proposal 3, I quoted Wayne Purcell, the president of HSUS, in saying “ We are out to stop all hunting, starting with the easiest sell”. I had many people say to me “ that will never happen in Michigan”, well my friends it already has. Here are a few examples of what the antis have done in the United States recently and their comments on their actions.

Griggstown Quail Farm, NJ
"Last night we gave an early Christmas present to around two hundred and fifty of our friends at the Griggstown Quail Farm in Princeton, NJ.
After clipping through the fencing we cut out large sections of the canopy covering three pens, then flushed several hundred quail, pheasants, and partridges out into the starry sky and freedom. The farm is located by a waterway and open fields, and we wish our friends the best of luck in establishing new lives.
To the animal abuse industry, welcome to post-Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act America: not one damn bit different.
Sincerely, the ALF

Schumacher Furs, Portland, OR
Schumacher furs lock glued and spray painted 'If your conscience doesn't keep you up at night - we will.'
Animals in the wild should be able to live free and not be caught, drown in traps, and have their populations destroyed. Those that profit from this industry must be held accountable and stopped. Enough protests. Gregg and Linda, close down or we'll close you down ourselves."
It's obvious in their comments that these people do not have any compassion towards people or their lives. Their comments show nothing but hate, a need to commit crimes and destroy people. Their blatant disregard towards people and need to commit crimes is what drives them. They're not acting in the interest of animals, their nothing but criminals!!
It doesn't matter if you hunt, fish or not, these people will touch your lives in one way or another. If you truly believe that our wildlife needs to be maintained in a responsible manner through conservation, than we need to come together. Stand up for what you believe in; don't expect others to speak for you any longer. Join one of the many outdoors clubs we have in Michigan. Educate yourself on the dangers the anti's represent. Educate others of those dangers too. I could tell you what these people tell your kids to do, or how they promote acts of crime, injure or kill people, but I wont. See it for yourself. Visit their websites, take some time to read for yourself what they are really trying to accomplish. To put all this bluntly its time us Michiganders stood shoulder to shoulder against the anti's.
Our kid's future of hunting and fishing is at risk if we don't.
